Depart the Best Western Irazu in San Jose and head for the volcano. The 6K run will be on and around the volcano of Irazu. It begins @8am and is followed by a complimentary tour of Irazu’s volcano lagoon. Board the bus for our trip to tonight’s final destination in Turrialba, an area well known for its rafting tours and yet another volcano. Yes, two volcano’s in one day! Make sure to take a load off at tonight’s bonfire. Turrialba is our home for the next two nights. Camping at its finest – lakeside!

Our 8K run begins @8am through the region of Turrialba. Trails will take you through Costa Rica’s world renowned rainforests. Today’s main event is a full day canyoning tour! Be prepared to rappel down waterfalls, drift through huge lagoon pools and experience Costa Rica like very few people do. Feel free to explore the town of Turrialba that evening.
The 10K run begins @8am and will end at the put-in for today’s whitewater rafting adventure! Class 3, 4 and 5 rapids with certified river rafting guides will consume your day. Save a little bit of energy because we’ll be lodging in style that night in Manzanillo at The Almonds and Corals Hotel and Resort. Click HERE to learn more.
Manzanillo is the first of three coastal towns we’ll be exploring over the next 3 days. The areas are close to one another so you won’t need to brace yourself for long trips on a daily basis. This section of the race will allow us to gradually cover the beauty of Costa Rica’s Southeastern Caribbean side.

Today’s 7K run begins @10am. Be prepared for a combination of dirt roads, trails and beach today. The race will start and end in the gorgeous coastal town of Manzanillo. There you’ll be given the option to snorkel or kayak all day. SCUBA tours will be an option at an additional price for anyone certified. We’ll be on our way up the coast to Punta Uva before sundown. It’s time to break out those tents again because we will be settling in at one of the more picturesque camp locations you’ve ever seen for the next two nights. The site will be equipped with kitchens for our catering staff as well as showers and bathrooms for all of the racers. Nighttime activities are all around you and we’ll be sure to have something going on at the site as well. For those not interested in camping for these two nights, there are 20 beds available on a first come first serve basis. 4 nights lodging (w/out any camping throughout the week) will be available for an additional $200 per person for the week.

Give it all you have for the last 5K which will consist of a tough beach course. You’ll need to dig deep on this one. We’ll be running to our final town known as Puerto Viejo. This is a surfer’s paradise. Therefore, surfboard rentals will be complimentary for the day. We’ll also have kayaks down the beach for those not interested in conquering the Costa Rica waves. We’ll celebrate everyone’s success with a banquet and awards ceremony that night. CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!
Brunch is served and then it’s time to board the bus back to San Jose. Accommodations are complimentary if you’d like to stay at the Best Western that night. Some of you may decide to say goodbye to the group in Puerto Viejo, contemplating the idea of calling it home for the next year or so.
